Frank Lautenberg is now in the ticket scalping business. The millionaire’s latest campaign fundraising idea is to buy $108 tickets to a Bruce Springsteen concert and resell give them to supporters in exchange for a $1,500 campaign contributions. In New Jersey, it is illegal to resell tickets for more than 20% of their face value. Put aside the foolishness of ticket scalping laws for the moment, how can Frank Lautenberg claim to be different from the Bush Administration when he is engaging in the most free market capitalist policy possible: selling tickets to people who are willing to pay the most.
